#2016 thought 03/16

I am German by passport. Syrian by blood. Turkish by passion. I learned this in England. I learned more during my past months here. Found wonderful friends (thanks for having you all) from around the world and had many firsts. I had my first (half-)marathon, first library party, first more than international Bday dinner, first (extremely) spicy Indian food, joined a speaking competition and many other memorable moments. I learned a lot in Uni or so I hope. And times passes. We all learn, experience and discover more. Read news, laugh, study, sleep, wake up, cry, laugh again, complain, work, celebrate, run, do something or nothing. Pray. Hope. That's our - my - past. But there are others: And theirs was probably: Survive or not. Flee or not. Lose and find. Or Not. Hunger or not. Be welcomed in your new home or not. That's their past months and years. And as time passes I sometimes ask myself:

How would my past 5 years have been if I hadn't carried Syria only in my heart?
